The library of the Cardinal.
Henry Benedict Stuart Duke of York in Frascati, 1761-1803


The Scuderie Aldobrandini in Frascati hosted, from 14 December 2008 to February 15, 2009 a major exhibition on the figure of Cardinal Henry Benedict Stuart Clement, Duke of York, an initiative under the high patronage of the President of the Italian Republic. The exhibition has collected paintings, including the extraordinary oil with the meeting of Pius VII and the Duke of York to Villa Arrigoni-Muti, medals, original documents, a marble bust, the original sketch of the tomb of Stuart by Antonio Canova, located in St. Peter's Basilica in the Vatican, and some of the precious volumes that the Duke himself picked up in his famous library, including the illuminated manuscript "Book of Hours" of Catherine de' Medici , from the Vatican Library.
